How to stick to your New Year resolutions

It's 2026!! Happy New year everyone!!

  • We all start the new year of on the right foot, be looking back on our past and seeing where we can improve. We set our goals and have no idea how to actually complete them. Here are a few quick tricks that has helped me stick with my new years resolutions. No matter what your goals are, we are just trying to improve our lives.

Tip #1 Start off small

  • We always want to go big in the new year. We say we will go from never going to gym, to going there 5-6 times a week. Don't shoot for the moon.

  • Change your goal to something small and manageable. Start with saying you will commit to the gym every Monday.

  • Once you are consistent with going once a week, then we can increase to twice a week or more.

Tip #2 Monthly goals

  • Instead of setting a long term goal for the whole year, set monthly goals.

  • Shorter goals will give us quicker wins and will help keep going with your goal.

  • Committing to something for 30 days is much easier than 365 days.

  • Your January goal can be to go to the gym once a week.

Tip #3 Find accountability

  • We all need accountability in our lives. If you have no one to check up on you, its easy to fall behind on your goals.

  • Find someone who will call you out on your excuses (In a nice way)

  • This can be a friend, family member, or a personal trainer

Tip #4 Write down how you will reach your goal

  • If your resolution is to lose 10lbs, you need to write down what that looks like.

  • Will you go to the gym, go on a run, swim, bike or another form of exercise.

  • What will your eating habits look like. You need tools to help you actually achieve your goals. we can just write them down and hope that it will work.

Tip #5 Be kind to yourself

  • If you aren't reaching your goals that's okay, be kind and find the root to why you are struggling to keep your resolutions.

  • Don't beat yourself up and give up. That will make it worst, reset your goals and start again.

  • Never give up on yourself

I no longer create New Year's resolutions. If you do and are having difficulty sticking to them, I hope this will assist you with your goals in 2026.
